H+K is investing in its Buchen facility and expanding production capacity

We look to the future with confidence and continue to invest in our Buchen facility. In light of our positive business performance and the growth projected for the coming years, we are expanding our production capacity, modernizing our processes, and at the same time strengthening our #teamHK.

This will enable us to lay the groundwork for further growth and ensure that, in the future as well, challenging customer projects can be carried out reliably and to a high standard at our Buchen location.

Growth Creates New Opportunities

As early as fiscal year 2025, we had already reached the limits of our capacity. At the same time, customer projects are becoming increasingly sophisticated: higher production volumes, more complex products, and greater component density are placing new demands on manufacturing.

“We can forecast continued steady growth for the coming years. That is why we are now building the necessary capacity to ensure that we can continue to respond flexibly and reliably to our customers’ needs in the future,” explains Managing Director Thomas Grimm.

Whether it’s industries, clients, or the technologies we use: We work with clients from a variety of industries, combining different technologies and areas of expertise. This diversity makes it possible to respond flexibly to changes in the market and to create stable prospects even in economically challenging times.

“Over the past few years, we’ve been able to apply our expertise in a wide variety of ways. Today, we’re so agile that we can respond flexibly to new developments and create the right solutions for our customers,” says Managing Director Frank Wahlandt.

Capacity Expansion for Electronics Manufacturing

A key component of the investments is the expansion of electronics manufacturing. We are setting up a second electronics assembly line, thereby expanding our SMT (Surface Mount Technology) capabilities.

To this end, the company purchased, among other things, an additional paste printer and a second automatic placement machine. In addition, a latest-generation AOI system will be put into operation in the third quarter of 2026. Automated optical inspection enables reliable quality control of assembled printed circuit boards directly during the manufacturing process.

Other production steps are also being modernized and automated. A new automated system has been used to apply the protective coating to printed circuit boards since the second quarter of 2026. It ensures a reproducible process and enables precise control of, among other things, layer thickness and application.

In addition, we plan to expand our painting capacity for structural components and housings. At the same time, the entire assembly process is being redefined and expanded, as are other related and subsequent processes such as receiving, laboratory testing, final inspection, and shipping. An important step in this process is to expand the assembly area so that even more complex input systems can be implemented there in the future.

Investments in Technology and People

The expansion of production capacity is accompanied by an increase in staff. H+K continues to seek new colleagues for various departments, thereby creating additional opportunities for skilled professionals and job seekers from the region.

“We’re not only upgrading our machinery, but we’re also continuing to look for new team members,” emphasizes Frank Wahlandt. “To continue our growth, we need dedicated people who want to work with us to shape the future of H+K.”

At the same time, these investments represent a clear commitment to Buchen as a business location and to the region. Production and core competencies are deliberately kept in Germany.

“Relocating operations abroad is not our approach,” Thomas Grimm emphasizes. “We are an integral part of Germany as a manufacturing hub, and we intend to continue making our contribution as an employer and a company in the region through targeted investments.”

Well-positioned for the future

By expanding our machinery, infrastructure, and team, we are laying the groundwork for further growth. At the same time, we are strengthening our ability to reliably implement customized and complex input systems and HMI solutions, even as requirements become more demanding.

For customers, this means additional capacity and efficient processes. For employees and job applicants, this development opens up new opportunities to actively help shape the future of a technologically diverse company at its Buchen location.

Hoffmann + Krippner is thus investing not only in new machinery, but above all in the long-term performance of the facility and in a successful shared future.
